Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds: A Practical Nutrition Talk for BSM Families

On 08 October, BSM hosted a highly engaging nutrition talk for Primary school parents led by Harvie De Baron, with support from his wife Eizza, from the Baron Method. The session focused on how small, practical changes at home can make a big difference to children’s health, energy, and focus.

Harvie shared a wealth of realistic, adaptable tips, emphasising that nutrition is not about strict rules but about working with each child as an individual. He offered thoughtful advice during the lively Q&A, responding to parents’ questions about their children’s specific needs — from juicing vegetables with fruits, to understanding that carbohydrates like rice provide valuable energy, and the benefit of calorie-dense foods for children who only eat small amounts at mealtimes. Parents were encouraged to check that ingredient labels on food items are short and recognisable, choosing whole, natural foods over highly processed ones.  Harvey also highlighted practical habits such as keeping ultra-processed, high-sugar snacks out of the house during the week, while allowing some flexibility at weekends.

The session received very positive feedback from parents, who appreciated the practical and approachable advice. Following its success, BSM plans to host further workshops with Harvey and other nutritionists to continue supporting families in making informed, healthy choices together.
