Maths: World Mathematics Competition (WMC) Regionals

Maths: World Mathematics Competition (WMC) Regionals

Earlier this term, 11 BSM Year 9 and 10 students completed a week of online challenges which culminated in a face to face competition with Brent and ISM on Saturday, 08 November.

The event is cleverly designed to test a variety of mathematical skills through one on one logic puzzles, maths “chains” that require every student in a team to perform to a high level and quickfire rounds requiring speed of thought (and feet). Our BSM students competed well and completed the day with smiles on their faces. Having enjoyed working with and against our local (but friendly) rivals.

Congratulations to all of the students that competed. We’ve returned with a stack of certificates which will be presented soon.

Five of our students have also qualified for the prestigious final of the World Maths Competition at Melbourne University in December. We wish them good luck in the finals!
