Welcome to our new PTA Committee!

Welcome to our new PTA Committee!

After a successful AGM last week, we are very pleased to officially introduce this year’s PTA Committee. The group, formed of 11 parents and 3 teachers, is already at work to kick-start what will be a year full of “fun-raising’ events, community celebrations and much more. So get ready, everybody! We are looking forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events.

Please take a moment to read through the PTA committee bios and get to know your team for this year.

THE BRITISH SCHOOL MANILA

PARENTS & TEACHERS ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE FOR SY 2025-2026

KRISTEL DA SILVA CURRAN - President

Kristel has been a BSM Mum for five years, with a daughter in Year 6 and a son in Year 3. In that time, her continuing role as Primary Parent Rep, PTA secretary, and most recently, PTA President,  has really allowed her to get to know the school community as a whole.

She loves the many ways BSM has allowed and encouraged her kids to flourish, and she is constantly amazed by the wonderful spirit and sense of belonging that the school offers. She thinks of the school almost as family now, and loves playing an active role in creating moments of joy for the community on a daily basis.

With a background in Advertising, Marketing and PR, Kristel is excited to continue her involvement with the PTA this year. She considers herself a true “third culture kid” having grown up in Tanzania, but with Indian heritage and Canadian and Portuguese citizenship. As a result, she is particularly keen to keep bringing families, teachers and staff together in new, innovative ways while celebrating BSM's rich cultural diversity.

In her spare time, you can find Kristel hanging out on the beach with her family, playing the flute, watching her kids play sports, or trying to find ways to stop her dog from chewing everything!

KRITHIKA ASOKAN ARVIND - Vice President

As Vice President of the PTA Committee, Krithika has long been an engaged member of the school community. She holds an Engineering degree with specialisations in Human Resources and Legal Studies, and with two children in Year 9 and Year 6, she brings a strong parental perspective.

She has previously served in PTA operations, where close coordination with school departments was key, and as a Parent Representative for a senior year group, strengthening family–school connections.

Professionally, Krithika has nearly a decade of HR/Legal & Compliance experience in an IT organisation, managing international operations. In the Philippines, she also coordinated the Professional Support wing of Indian Women in Enterprise, a non-profit organisation.

Her interests include gardening, reading, pet parenting, and networking. With strong interpersonal and communication skills, she is committed to contributing meaningfully to the BSM community.

MARIYA MERAJ HASAN - Treasurer

Mariya has been an active BSM parent since 2022, contributing both as a Parent Representative and a committed member of the PTA. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and has previous teaching experience, which makes her empathetic, responsive to parents’ needs, and deeply attuned to the student experience. Her involvement brings insight, structure, and a strong perspective to the PTA.

Mariya embodies a rich cultural blend of India, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines, as over the past 10 years, she has lived and engaged across these three countries. Her creativity, warmth, and appreciation for cultural diversity enrich every initiative she takes part in, making her a valuable asset to the school community. She looks forward to another memorable year with the PTA.

AINAZ GARDA - Secretary

After living in two African countries, Ainaz moved to Manila in 2015. Their son joined BSM in 2020 and is now advancing to Year 4.

Ainaz holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations and a Master of Commerce in Management.

Her professional journey began in college with an event management company, where she honed her organisational and leadership skills. After four years, she transitioned to a global asset management firm, specialising in equity investments, where she developed a keen eye for financial analysis and strategic planning.

With over a decade of cumulative experience in both event management and finance, Ainaz brings a unique blend of skills to the table.

She is passionate about leveraging her expertise to contribute significantly to the BSM community through various PTA events and projects. Her background equips her to handle the complexities of planning and executing events while maintaining a strategic focus on achieving our goals. She is eager to collaborate with the BSM community and make a meaningful impact on our initiatives.

She has served as the PTA Treasurer this year and looks forward to continuing her involvement with the BSM community as an active PTA member.

ANUBHAV VYAS - Operations

Anubhav is a retired fighter pilot and a flying instructor from the Indian Air Force, where he served for over 15 years. He is also a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and he's currently pursuing a Professional Management Professional (PMP) certification.

His wife has been with the International Committee of the Red Cross for more than 17 years, based in Manila since 2022, and as a family, they have been fortunate to live in and experience different cultures.

They have two children at the school (Year 4 and Year 2), and like many of you, he's keen to see them grow in a safe, caring, and motivating environment.

Outside of work, Anubhav enjoys sports, fitness, reading, and family time. He looks forward to working together with all of you and the teachers to support our children’s learning and make school life more enriching.

EMMA MORRISH-HALE - Attractions

Emma has been a parent at BSM for seven years and has three children at the school. With a background in Media, Social Care, and Health, she has always enjoyed working closely with local communities.

When they first moved to the Philippines, Emma was delighted to find a school dedicated to supporting local organisations and charities while fostering a strong school community. Now that one of her children is off to university, she would like to support the PTA, which has played a significant role in making our family feel connected and valued.

CARLY NORMAN - Catering

Carly is a mother to Isla, who joined BSM in 2023, having made the move from Madrid, Spain. She is passionate about school life and strives to make family experiences the best they can be for both students and parents. Carly enjoys giving back to the community and has involved herself in charitable activities since moving to Manila. Before relocating from the UK, she worked for Kent Police as a Management Secretary. Carly has extensive experience in all administrative tasks, having supported the area commander for a number of years.

Carly enjoys spending time with her family, eating out, planning events and holidays and training in the gym. Her greatest passion outside of family is live music, and she especially enjoys taking her daughter to see music artists around the world.

KAYLEE COOK - Bar

Kaylee’s journey to Manila began in 2017. In the last six years, she has had the privilege of being a very active and committed member within the BSM community. Professionally, she trained as a beauty therapist, but since becoming a mother to three children, who are currently in Primary School, her focus shifted towards nurturing and supporting them and the occasional stray kitten that crossed her path.

What sets Kaylee apart is her ability to bridge the gap between parents and teachers, embodying the belief that the true strength of BSM lies in its sense of community. Through her role on the PTA for the last couple of years, she has been able to bring parents and teachers together, fostering an environment that nurtures growth, support, and shared aspirations.

Kaylee possesses an undeniable passion for creating memorable moments that will enrich our children’s educational journey. Her vision goes beyond academics; it encompasses creating a sense of belonging for all members of our community. She served in PTA Operations last year, supporting and ensuring the smooth functioning of PTA initiatives.

Kaylee looks forward to the possibility of her continued contribution to the PTA, as she strives to infuse more joy into the lives of our children through enhanced educational experiences.

RASHNI WEERASEKERA - Sponsorship

Rashni joined the BSM family in April 2023, relocating from the UAE with her family. She brings experience in manufacturing, hospitality, and e-learning, having worked as a business/market analyst and instructional designer.

Since taking on the sponsorship role, Rashni has enjoyed helping businesses, both emerging and established, become active and valued participants in the BSM community.

A former high school basketball player, she now enjoys spinning, badminton and tennis.  Her family shares a love for the outdoors, often hiking and exploring the trails of the Philippines. Mount Batulao and the Masungi Georeserve top their list so far. Together, they look forward to the challenge of climbing Mount Apo someday.

KARLA FROMM - Décor

Karla is a mum to two girls, Annika (Year 7) and Chloe (Year 5). Their Filipino-British family first joined BSM in 2019, with her eldest starting in Reception, and returned in 2022 after three years in Hong Kong.

She is a Filipina and a Marketing Research Consultant by profession. After years in full-time corporate work, she now devotes much of her time to school life—whether it’s attending kids’ sports and exhibitions, daily drop-offs/pick-ups, or volunteering as a parent helper in class and the PTA Christmas shop when needed. In her spare time, she continues part-time consulting and enjoys sewing clothes and accessories for her children as a creative outlet.

Karla looks forward to contributing her time and ideas to meaningful PTA initiatives and school events.

SILVIA ALONSO - Marketing

Silvia moved to Manila with her family one year ago. She is the mother of two children in Years 6 and 10. She and her family have a very nomadic lifestyle. Over the past 10 years, they have lived in Kenya, Ethiopia, Jerusalem, and Spain.

Silvia is also a scientist working on agricultural research across Africa and Asia, helping farmers and those making a living from selling food to run more successful businesses. Her work often takes her to travel to different parts of the world.

She loves travelling, sailing and swimming. She has been part of the PTA for a year, handling the Marketing portfolio, and is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the life of BSM as a member of the PTA.

ALEXANDER PAUL - Primary Teacher Representative

Hello! I’m Alex, 40 years old and married. I’ve been lucky to teach across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 in a few very different schools. My first job was at a small village school in the UK, where the staff and PTA worked closely together—I’ll never forget helping to run the It’s a Knockout competition at the summer fete.

I then moved to Malaysia to teach in a small international school, working in KS2. One of my favourite moments there was teaming up with a parent to run a song and dance workshop for the International Day (a PTA-linked event)—such a joyful experience for the children.

I’m now at BSM, my biggest school yet, and I’ve enjoyed teaching across all year groups. A highlight from a PTA event here has to be performing live as part of the “Spice Girls” at the end-of-year 'Big Summer Splash' fete—lots of laughter and great memories!

I’ve always loved being part of big fundraising efforts, both in and out of school. For example, every Christmas, I help organise and share out charitable collections from my church’s Christingle service—it’s something I look forward to each year.

I’m excited to get stuck in here at BSM and support the PTA in any way I can.

SERGIO MARTÍNEZ - Senior Teacher Representative

Sergio is a dedicated parent and educator with a passion for fostering growth and community. Having taught for 29 years, including 19 overseas, Sergio brings a wealth of experience ranging from early childhood to senior school. As a parent of two Senior School students, and with one year of service as the senior PTA representative, he is deeply invested in the success of our BSM community. Sergio is excited to contribute his expertise and enthusiasm to help our school continue to thrive.

ELIZABETH O’SULLIVAN - Senior Teacher Representative

Elizabeth is a full-time English teacher in Senior School at BSM, and is one of our Senior School PTA teacher representatives this year. Last year, Elizabeth acted as secretary in the PTA as a BSM parent. She is really looking forward to helping out with all the PTA events again this year, especially the Christmas shop!

Have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Your BSM PTA Committee
