KS2 Drama Artist in Residence & Four Squared FOBISIA Battle of the Bands highlights
From 15-17 January, KS2 students had the wonderful opportunity to work with Neil Farrelly, director of theatre company Nose2Nose who teaches, directs, writes, and collaborates with students and artists worldwide.
Students had fun playing various theatre games, alternately physically active and quietly focussed, all requiring collaboration and engaging their imagination and creativity. They also worked with props, text, drawings and script to create short moments showcasing characters and different ways to explore meaning. There was a lot of laughter during the workshops and the feedback from students was very positive, with one the best quotes coming from Finn in Year 6: “I didn’t think I was good at acting but now I realise I’m better than I thought!”
Thank you to Neil Farrelly and we look forward to the residency of our next theatre artist in February.

After traveling on Thursday, they had a full day of exciting music workshops on Friday, focussed on performance, creativity, and industry insights, along with the all-important soundcheck for their performance. The workshops were led by a range of music industry professionals, including the guest judges:
⭐️ James Bennett - a British choreographer with extensive experience across theatre, film, and television, known for his work on shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent, and as the creative director and choreographer for Oti Mabuse's debut tour, I AM HERE.
⭐️ Noel Sullivan - a British singer and actor from Cardiff, Wales, who gained fame as a member of the pop group Hear'Say and has since built a successful career in West End musical theatre and television.
⭐️ Roo Pigott - a music industry entrepreneur, Grammy-nominated producer, and songwriter with over 30 years of experience, having worked with artists such as Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and John Mayer. He is the founding CEO of Songwork International and co-owner of Prolific Songs.
⭐️ Isaac Miranda - a Malaysian-based music industry professional, serving as the APAC Business Operations and Marketing Lead at ONErpm, and founder of the music agency PLAIN PACK, with a background in artist management, digital activations, and music journalism.
⭐️ Brandon Friesen - an American, Grammy-nominated and multi-Juno Award-winning music producer, audio engineer, mixer, and television producer, known for his work with artists like Nickelback, Sum 41, and The Kooks, and as the founder of Blue Cadillac Music.
On Saturday, our BSM musicians gave an outstanding performance of their innovative cover of Toxic, winning admiration from both the audience and judges. They also met like-minded musicians from schools across the region and were inspired by many of the 42 bands in attendance. This provided an invaluable learning opportunity, as well as the chance to make new friends within the FOBISIA community.
Congratulations to 'Four Squared' for their hard work, creativity, and for representing BSM so brilliantly! 🤘🎸🥁🎤
