Flourish Festival Senior Open Mic
Our first Senior School Open Mic event was a fantastic showcase of musical resilience and accomplishment, and provided a fitting end to the Flourish Festival!
The students took to the stage with an impressive variety of performances, from heartfelt vocal solos and dynamic duets in pop and musical theatre styles to a high-energy set from a talented Year 7 rock band.
The atmosphere was electric, with an enthusiastic audience cheering on each performer, making it a truly uplifting and supportive event. Huge congratulations to all who took part in their showcase of musical talent, creativity, and confidence!
We can’t wait to see even more students take to the stage at future Open Mic events!

Empowering Young Voices Through Theatre: A Transformative Workshop with Dr Laura Cabochan
This week, our Year 7 to 9 students had the extraordinary opportunity to work with Dr Laura Cabochan during her inspiring Artist in Residency with the Drama Department. Through dynamic and thought-provoking workshops, students delved into the complexities of power imbalances in communities, using performance as a tool for exploration and reflection.
Introducing Key Stage 3 students to Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, Dr Cabochan guided students through interactive techniques such as "freeze," "suggestion," and "tap in/out" - empowering them to challenge unfairness, step up as upstanders, and engage with real-world issues through theatre.
This engaging and eye-opening experience seamlessly connects with our commitment to “an outstanding holistic British international education, empowering students to flourish as global citizens with the skills, understanding, and values, to make a positive contribution to our world.”
A heartfelt thank you to Dr Cabochan for her time, expertise, and creativity in bringing such an impactful experience to our school community.

Year 13 IBDP Theatre Students Present Their Collaborative Project
On Monday, 17 February and Tuesday, 18 February, our graduating IBDP Theatre students will take the stage in Bayanihan from 03.00pm-04.00pm for an exclusive invited audience showcase of their Collaborative Project.
This rigorous assessment challenges students to devise an original 10-minute piece of theatre, drawing on their learning and artistic perspectives as performers, directors, creators, and designers. As a core component of their coursework, this project contributes 40% (SL) / 25% (HL) of their final IBDP Theatre grade.
Invitations have been sent via email - be sure to check your inbox for details. We look forward to celebrating the creativity, innovation, and dedication of our talented students!
Studio Drama Returns!
After many years, we are thrilled to reintroduce Studio Drama, bringing intimate, experimental theatre back to our school community. These performances provide a unique platform for students to explore bold and innovative storytelling in a close-up setting.
For this exciting revival, our Year 12 IBDP Theatre students will present a rehearsed reading of Forty-Five Minutes by Anya Reiss in the Behn Classroom, Level 1 Creative Arts Centre, on Thursday, 20 February and Friday, 21 February, from 03.00pm-04.00pm. This sharp, fast-paced dramatic comedy captures the chaos, pressure, and humour of students racing to submit their UCAS applications before the deadline.
Due to mature themes and language, this performance is recommended for Year 10+ audiences, with parental guidance advised. Tickets are free for the BSM community - scan the QR code to reserve yours now!
