University of Technology Sydney workshops with Year 12, University visits, and Manila World University Fair sessions

This week, students in Year 12 were visited by senior lecturer in Computer Science, Luke Mathieson and the Course Director of the School of Architecture from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. UTS is regularly ranked in the Top 2 in Australia for Art & Design and Computer Science & Engineering, so this was a chance for our students to build bridges between their IB learning and the wider academic world beyond Senior School.

The university academics facilitated workshops on 'Algorithms, Computational Complexity and the Limits of Computation' and 'Bring Out The Architect in You!’ with Mr Chandhoke's Computer Science class and Ms Jackson's Visual Arts class, respectively. It was a great opportunity to see top-level academics working with BSM students and connecting them with Higher Education and professional learning. Both sessions were really interactive, and the academics were impressed with the curiosity and proactive nature of the students that they met.
