Share your feedback with us and Royal Society of Biology Challenge Success

Dear Families,

It has been a tremendously interesting and rewarding year for me as Head of Senior School. Throughout the year, I have met with all teachers to better understand their perspectives on how we can continue to strengthen and improve our school. We also regularly seek feedback from your children, whose insights have been invaluable.

The feedback and data we have gathered have already led to several significant developments in both our curriculum offerings and the internal organisational structure of the Senior School. We are fortunate to be part of a community in which so many families are actively engaged, offering thoughtful feedback, asking important questions, and making constructive suggestions to help us grow.

As we continue this process of reflection and improvement, we would like to gather more detailed and measurable feedback from a broader range of families. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to have a conversation with your child and then complete this feedback form, one for each of your Senior School children. Your perspectives will play an important role in shaping the future direction of the Senior School.

Please note that a school-wide survey is also being shared, and your support in completing this too is highly appreciated.

Warm regards,

Mark Attwood

Head of Senior School

Royal Society of Biology Challenge Success

This year marked an exciting first for BSM as our students took part in the Royal Society of Biology’s Biology Challenge. The competition, open to Year 10 students, is designed to inspire and stretch young biologists by encouraging scientific curiosity beyond the classroom.

As part of our ongoing commitment to enriching learning opportunities, we were delighted to introduce this initiative at BSM. While the competition is open to students in Years 9 and 10 in the UK system, we limited participation to Year 10 students this year as we launched the programme. The Biology Challenge also serves as an introductory step towards the Biology Olympiad, which is typically undertaken by IB students.

The Royal Society of Biology describes the competition as one that rewards students who not only understand the school curriculum but also deepen their biological knowledge through wider reading, watching natural history programmes, engaging with current scientific news, and developing an awareness of the natural world around them.

This year, eight students took part—and we are incredibly proud that every participant received an award for their achievement.
