Continued support for our Year 9, 11, & 13 students and additional measures to strengthen our device-use policy in school

Dear Families,

It was wonderful to see so many parents at our recent workshop on university choices and the application process. Our College Counselling team are always eager to partner with families as we navigate the wide range of pathways available to our students.

This week in Senior School, our focus has been primarily on options for next year and preparing for the upcoming mock examinations in January. These are important periods for our Year 9, 11, and 13 students, and we are grateful for your continued support as they work through key decisions and deadlines.

In a couple of weeks, Australia will introduce a social media ban for children under 16. This move has certainly caught the attention of schools internationally, including our own, and we are engaging with colleagues across the region to better understand its implications. We are also reflecting on what this may mean for us in the future and to what extent similar approaches might be beneficial in our context. I look forward to exploring this more with families in the months ahead.

In the shorter term, we are reviewing additional measures to further strengthen our device-use policy at school. We have noticed increasing use of devices around campus from 02.30pm onwards for purposes beyond communicating with parents and drivers about travel arrangements, and we want to ensure our expectations remain clear and purposeful.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our end-of-term events.
