Dear Families,
Parent Workshop
Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our session on supporting children with external exams. Expertly led by Mr Attwood and Ms Rory, the session provided parents with practical strategies to help their children navigate this important stage of their learning journey. If you would like to learn more, you can access the slides on the Family Portal.
Religion and Belief in Year 8 Humanities
On Monday, 10 March, Rabbi Refael Mimran, of the Beit Yaacov Synagogue in Makati, visited BSM to share his knowledge and experience of Judaism with Year 8 Humanities students:
"Rabbi Mimran recently visited and discussed important aspects of Jewish tradition. He explained how wearing a kippah reminds Jewish people to think of God and outlined the many commandments that they have to follow, which is different for each person depending on their beliefs, traditions, and level of religious observance. He also talked about the cloth worn for prayer and the two types of tefillin, one worn from the arm, and one worn from the head, with holy words inside the small boxes. The Rabbi highlighted the significance of the Torah scroll, used in worship and the numerous prayers that they do, which is a big part of Jewish life along with many other daily traditions." - Marni (Year 8)

On Monday, 24 March, Brahmacharini Sangita Chaitanya, from the Chinmaya Mission, Taguig, joined Year 8 students at BSM to outline the history, fundamental beliefs and modern practices of Hinduism. She was accompanied by Mrs Sonaal Nandwani who assisted with the presentation.
"During this session, we learnt everything about Hinduism, from its origin to its beliefs. Brahmacharini Sangita Chaitanya taught us about her culture and even shared a very important idea, “Question everything, even your religion”. She explained that Hinduism gives you the freedom to question people, things and even religion. This is part of their spiritual culture, to investigate the unseen. She taught us about Sanatana Dharma, “the eternal values that sustain us”. After discussing the religion and its gods and goddesses, we moved into groups, with each group choosing one person to dress up as a Hindu god. Once time was up, the gods did a fashion show judged by our guest speakers. This session enhanced our knowledge of Hinduism, and gave us a new perspective on how to see things. It is safe to say that this was fun and informative." - Eva (Year 8)
