College Counselling session reminder, Spirit Day and TOK Workshop highlights!

Dear Families,

Thank you to all the parents who attended our 1st College Counselling Spotlight session on Tuesday morning. Sixty-six parents took the opportunity to engage with our college counsellors and explore areas including MAIA Learning, guidance on university visits, and how to access summer internships.

Workshop 2 (Tuesday, 14 May 2024): Applying to Globally Competitive Universities

Intended audience: Years 10-12 Parents

Spirit Afternoon

On Thursday, 09 May, our Senior School came alive with an electrifying Spirit Afternoon, organised by the SSLT. The event featured an array of activities designed to boost house spirit, foster inter-year bonding, and provide a well-deserved break from preparing for the upcoming exam period.

Throughout the afternoon, students from Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 gathered to showcase their competitive spirit and camaraderie. The day kicked off with an engaging all-day Rock, Paper, Scissors Bracelet game where students challenged fellow peers and teachers to earn a spot at the grand finale at the upcoming Senior School Assembly.

The main events included spirited rounds of dodgeball, karaoke, just dance sessions, and strategic gameplay of board games and table tennis. The SSLT's goal was to create an environment where students could relax, enjoy themselves, and strengthen their ties with peers and house members.

We hope that everyone had fun amidst the rigorous academic challenges of Term 3, and we look forward to hosting another spirit afternoon soon!

"Empowering Educators: Highlights from our Two-Day Theory of Knowledge Workshop"

This weekend, BSM hosted an exciting Theory of Knowledge (TOK) workshop led by the experienced IB workshop leader, Mark Kucharski. With over 50 conferences under his guidance, Mark brought invaluable expertise and resources to our two-day exploration.

On Friday, representatives from all major departments in our school converged in El Nido to redefine our approach to critical thinking and interdisciplinary connections among students. Through engaging dialogues and collaborative sessions, we explored ways to transfer theoretical knowledge to real-world applications.

Saturday welcomed educators from across Manila and beyond, emphasizing our collective commitment to reflect on pedagogical excellence. Spirited discussions and shared practices were enjoyed by all, reminding me of the shared mission of all true educators to learn for life!

We are all looking forward to our Theory of Knowledge exhibition on Tuesday, 21 May at 01.30pm, where educators will exchange ideas and insights. Parents of Year 10-13 students are invited to witness the essence of TOK, gaining valuable insights from our students into knowledge and critical thinking.
