Activities Week highlights and Theory of Knowledge Exhibition

Dear Families,

Last Saturday, we gathered in the Bayanihan Hall to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our BSM Class of 2025 graduating class.

The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the exceptional Class of 2025, whose accomplishments, creativity, and support for others have left a lasting impact on our school community. Heartfelt speeches, outstanding performances, and the warm presence of families and staff made the event truly memorable.

A special thank you goes to the incredible Graduation Committee for planning and delivering an outstanding reception. The Main Hall was transformed beyond recognition, as guests enjoyed elegant canapés and refreshing beverages in a beautifully curated setting.

Activities Week

Activities Week is a vital part of our school year, offering students meaningful learning beyond the classroom. It builds independence, teamwork, and resilience through new environments and challenges. Whether exploring nature, gaining life skills, or discovering new interests, students grow in confidence and form stronger bonds with peers and teachers. It also supports well-being by providing a break from academic routines while enriching learning through real-world experiences. Activities Week reflects our commitment to holistic education - nurturing not just minds, but also character, creativity, and a strong sense of community that lasts well beyond the week. Here is a brief overview of the week:

Years 7 and 8 have enjoyed an action-packed program, including a visit to the Pinto Art Museum, learning life-saving first aid from the Red Cross, and even a fun sleepover at school.

Year 9 students travelled to La Union, where they pushed their limits both in and out of the water. Their activities included learning to surf, practising wilderness survival skills, exploring waterfalls, and training in lifesaving techniques.

Year 10 had an unforgettable adventure in Dumaguete, taking part in activities such as snorkelling, diving, hiking, and team-building exercises.

🎓 Exploring Uncertainty at BSM’s Annual Theory of Knowledge Exhibition

This Thursday, BSM proudly hosted our annual Theory of Knowledge (ToK) Exhibition, welcoming dozens of parents and visitors into our community for an inspiring afternoon of intellectual curiosity and reflection.

Building on last year’s theme, Know Thyself, this year’s workshop posed the timely and provocative question: "Who am I to know?" The event opened with a powerful and thought-provoking drama sketch performed by Chloe and Advika, setting the tone for a morning of exploration into knowledge and uncertainty.

Guests and parents then rotated through a range of outstanding student exhibitions, each one offering a unique lens into how our learners grapple with the limits of what we know—and what we don’t know. These exhibitions sparked rich conversations, culminating in a whole-group discussion where students, parents, and staff reflected together as a community.

Each year, our students amaze us with their intellectual depth and maturity. This time, we encouraged them to take a step back—to sit with ambiguity, to embrace not-knowing, and to reflect on the human element that underpins all knowledge. In a world where so many aspire to certainty and expertise, it’s vital to remember that the greatest thinkers at the limits of their fields face uncertainty daily. We all do.

Our third Theory of Knowledge Exhibition in the Bayihan Hall was a call to respect our limits, to ask questions with integrity, and to claim with kindness: Who am I to know?

We are incredibly proud of our students and our wider BSM community who joined us on this shared thinking journey.
