Poetry Visit and Year 6 Assembly

Poetry Visit and Year 6 Assembly

Dear Parents,

A Poetry Visit

On Tuesday, 22nd October, we had a poetry visitor, Ms Jasmine Gardosi who brought poetry to life with her unique beatboxing style in our Key Stage 2 classes. Ms Jasmine explained haikus to the Year 3 students, then she let them write their own poems using themes of nature and feelings. Students had the opportunity to share and perform their poems in front of her and the rest of the class. She shared her journey and challenges with Year 5, discussing how she became a poet and writer, and how her love of poetry has influenced her identity. She encouraged the students to write their own poems as a means of self-expression, helping them define their true identities. She also performed her poetry while beatboxing for Year 6 and shared some tips.

Year 5 and Year 6 students also had the opportunity to chat with Jasmine and write poems and in Year 4, Ms Jasmine performed a poem that she had written during the pandemic.

The visit was overall a great opportunity for our students to experience and explore poetry through the themes of identity using the medium of beatboxing.

Year 6 Assembly

Thank you to all Year 6 staff and students for an amazing assembly presentation this Friday showcasing the components and functions of the human heart. It was an informative full-scale production with a sense of humor, and everyone was very entertained. Well done, Year 6.
