Gong Xi Fa Cai! Celebrating our diverse cultures here at BSM
Dear BSM Family,
At today’s Whole School Assembly, we welcomed our new Head Students to their first assembly in their roles. Congratulations and best of luck to Cathy (Year 12) and Ritasha (Year 12), on your appointments. To you and our new SSLT, thank you for your dedication to BSM and your fellow students, and best of luck for the year ahead.
To all who celebrate Chinese New Year - xīn nián kuài lè. I wish you a joyful and prosperous Year of the Wood Snake.
At BSM, we are proud of our truly diverse community, representing 54 nationalities and the rich traditions that come with them. Every year, we see wonderful celebrations that allow us to share and appreciate our different cultures. This matters because it brings people together. Learning about each other’s traditions fosters connection, understanding, and friendship. It reminds us of what we share while celebrating what makes us unique. It encourages open-mindedness; experiencing different customs teaches us to be curious, respectful, and appreciative of the world around us. It teaches valuable lessons; every tradition holds stories and wisdom. Whether it’s the patience and ingenuity of the Snake in Chinese mythology, or the generosity of giving during Diwali and Christmas, these traditions offer insights that can inspire us all.
Celebrating our diverse cultures not only strengthens our BSM community but also helps shape a more understanding and inclusive world.
So, Gong Xi Fa Cai! May this New Year bring happiness and prosperity to all. Looking to the year ahead I am pleased to advise that we have completed our appointment process for all teachers for next school year. Please look out in Lion’s Roar in the weeks to come for introductions of our incoming teachers.
The recruitment for a new Head of Senior School is ongoing and we expect to announce the appointee soon.
Wishing you a happy and family-filled weekend.

On Thursday, 06 February, students across the school will participate in an exciting House Spirit event, led by our dedicated PE, Health, and Well-Being Department. Additionally, Senior students will enjoy a special educational film screening.

“A key strength at BSM is the positive school culture which permeates throughout. The depth and breadth of this culture is heard and seen from the youngest students through to the board, extending to support staff and parents.”
