Excited to see what our new SSLT achieve this year

Dear BSM Family,

Today I had the pleasure of introducing our Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT) to our Whole School Assembly. While they formally took over from our outgoing SSLT in January during our Founders’ Assembly handover, today marked their first official Whole School Assembly appearance in their new roles.

It was a moment that made me immensely proud.

Standing together in front of the school, they represented exactly what we hope to nurture in every BSM student: strength of character, a genuine commitment to others, and the confidence to lead with purpose. These are students who combine calm determination with warm positivity—young people who understand that leadership is not a title, but a daily choice.

What impressed me most was not only their capability but the values they carry so naturally. Kindness, integrity, and respect are not just words in a mission statement for this team—they are visible in the way they speak to others, include others, and think about the impact of their decisions. They lead collaboratively, listening carefully and working as a team, showing that the best leadership at BSM is built on community rather than individual recognition.

And of course, their leadership doesn’t exist in isolation. These are senior students balancing the demands of a rigorous IB workload while remaining deeply involved in school life. They are athletes who train and compete with discipline, artists who create and perform with courage, and students who give their time and energy to service—quietly, consistently, and with genuine care. They are involved across sports, arts, and activities, and they show up for others in ways that strengthen our community every day.

That breadth matters. It reminds us that our student leaders are not “separate” from the student body—they are very much part of it. They understand the pressures, the hopes, the humour, and the heart of student life at BSM because they live it too. Their commitment is not only to the school as an institution, but to the BSM student body—ensuring that student voice is heard, that community spirit is protected, and that everyone feels they belong.

As we look ahead, I have no doubt this SSLT will lead with energy and empathy, with high standards and open minds. They have already shown they are hardworking students with a remarkable range of talents and passions—but more importantly, they are strong characters. And that is what will make their leadership meaningful.

We are excited to see what they will accomplish this year and grateful that they are willing to serve our community with such commitment.

For administrative note, please refer to our school calendar for the school years SY 2026-2027 and SY 2027-2028. Given recent experience, we are aware that the lengthening typhoon season and other factors may impact school days, and we will share contingency planning details nearer the start of next year.

Enjoy a family-filled weekend.
