Your support is invaluable in prioritising our students' well-being

Dear BSM Family,

At the end of another wonderful week, I am reminded again that at the heart of BSM is a strong partnership between staff, students, and parents, grounded in our core values of Integrity, Kindness, and Respect. We also know, however, that education does not exist in isolation from the wider world. Today’s social landscape is shaped by constant connectivity, social media, and rapidly developing AI tools. These bring exciting opportunities for learning and creativity, but they also create new challenges for well-being, privacy, and, healthy relationships. Around the world, including through recent legislation in Australia aimed at strengthening online safety for young people, there is growing recognition of the need to guide children carefully in navigating their digital lives.

Within and beyond school, our students are increasingly faced with situations that call for self-reflection, resilience, and responsible decision-making, whether that’s managing friendships, responding to conflict, communicating online, or using AI ethically. We are acutely aware of this and are considering ways to further enhance our support for a prudent balance between appropriate access and excess in the digital domain. With the support of parents partnering closely with us, these challenges can become opportunities for growth, helping students build emotional intelligence, digital citizenship, and strong interpersonal skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. A parent workshop on AI is planned for next term, as well as a further review of online access for students at school and device provision. Further details will be shared with you.

As we approach a well-deserved break, let us carry a shared commitment to our students’ well-being, both in person and online, into the holidays and beyond. As adults, we set the tone: by consciously stepping back from our devices and prioritising real, in-person connections, we model the balanced, healthy behaviour we hope to see in our children. Your ongoing care and support for your children, and for our community, are, as always, deeply appreciated.

At our meeting earlier, some of our Parent Reps expressed an interest in being able to see the Weekly Recaps we share on the screen around school each week. I’m delighted to share that these are already available on the BSM YouTube channel - you can access the Weekly Recap playlist directly here.

Enjoy these reels and your family-filled weekend.

Medical Clinic Update

Dear BSM Family,

In order to ensure that medication given in school is administered safely, correctly, and with your approval, we will ask you to complete the Medicine Administration Form if your child needs to take medicine during school hours. This allows our team to care for your child responsibly and maintain accurate records. The form is also available on the Family Portal under “Forms”.

Please note that we can not administer any medications in school if this form is not completed.

Please refer to Medical Matters in the Family Handbook for further information.

Thank you for your support.
