Dear BSM Community,
I’m delighted to share some highlights from what has been a fantastic start to the year for our After School Activities (ASA) programme and sports teams. This past weekend, our BSM Lions football teams took to the field with remarkable performances that embodied the sporting values we cherish: grit, teamwork, and humility. The level of competition was high, yet our students showed determination and sportsmanship that made us all proud. I’d like to personally congratulate the players and express my deepest gratitude to the coaches and organisers for their tireless efforts. A big thank you as well to our supportive parents and families, whose energy and encouragement made this weekend so special.
Beyond sports, our broader ASA programme is thriving, offering a diverse range of opportunities for students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and foster creativity. A particular highlight this year is the number of student-led activities, which continue to showcase the initiative, leadership, and collaboration that we are so proud of at BSM. From arts and coding to performing arts and academic clubs, these activities are nurturing a new generation of innovative and driven learners.
Today’s IGCSE Assembly was another wonderful reminder of our commitment to holistic international education. Our students’ academic successes, combined with their engagement in extracurricular activities, reflect the well-rounded educational experience we strive for. At BSM, we believe in cultivating not just academic development, opportunity and excellence but also the personal growth that comes from a balanced, enriching school life. I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge the extraordinary generosity of our community in supporting the Tondo fire victims. Your kindness and compassion have been overwhelming, and it is a powerful reminder of the values we uphold as a community. Your contributions will undoubtedly make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have donated or lent a hand.
As we move forward in the school year, I am confident that the positive energy and dedication we have seen will continue to grow. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the sports field, or in our community efforts, the spirit of BSM is alive and thriving. Thank you once again to everyone—students, staff, parents, and families—who contribute to making our school such a vibrant, supportive, and successful place.
Enjoy a family-filled weekend,
Martin van der Linde
