BSM empowers our students to make a difference!

BSM empowers our students to make a difference!

Dear BSM Family,

You are all quite aware of our BSM guiding statements and our purpose.

The British School Manila (BSM) provides an outstanding holistic British international education, empowering students to flourish as global citizens with the skills, understanding and values to make a positive contribution to our world.

We do not pay lip service to this and are resolute in constantly focussing our efforts to provide our students with the best possible opportunities we can. A great example of our engagement beyond the three Rs of the academic curriculum is our annual MAD (Make a Difference Week) for Senior School students. MAD week took place in January, but learning didn’t stop when the trips ended. It was wrapped up yesterday with the viewing of student documentaries of their engagements and learning.

Docathon gave students a powerful way to reflect, synthesise and share those stories responsibly, turning experience into insight and advocacy through short documentaries celebrated in the annual Docathon Film Festival. This clear “purpose in action” visibly lives out BSM’s core values of Respect, Integrity and Kindness through sustained relationships with the communities they visited.

The Docathon documentaries were inspiring, and through the stories told, the positive energy reported from each of the experiences highlights how students thrive when they have space to connect deeply with others and focus on experiences beyond screens.

Well done to all of our students for their efforts, and a huge thank you to all staff involved in making this such an inspiring part of our BSM learning journey.

Have a wonderful, family-filled weekend.
