Success is nurtured through our shared commitment

Success is nurtured through our shared commitment

Dear BSM Family,

Last Friday’s Great British Splash was another wonderful community celebration and coming-together, and as we near the end of this school year, it offered a timely reminder of what makes BSM such a special place.

There are, of course, many ways to celebrate and measure success at this time of year: BSM Lions Sports Awards, Speech Day, Class of 2026 Graduation, Year 6 Celebration, and the many assemblies, performances, exhibitions and events that bring the school year to a close. Yet among the most meaningful measures is the quality of the relationships that shape our students’ experience. This is where the partnership between school and home matters so deeply.

The best schools understand that student success is not achieved by the school alone. It is nurtured through a shared commitment between students, teachers and parents, each playing a vital role in creating the conditions in which young people can flourish. When school and home work in close alignment, students benefit from consistency, encouragement and a strong sense of belonging. They know that the adults around them are working together, guided by common values and a shared belief in their potential.

This partnership is visible in the big moments and is also present in the quieter moments: conversations at home that reinforce values, thoughtful communication between parents and teachers, trust when challenges arise, and the shared commitment to helping each student flourish.

As part of this commitment to listening and reflecting, we will shortly be inviting parents to share feedback through community surveys. These will include the Edurio worldwide COBIS survey, which allows us to understand our community’s experience in relation to other COBIS schools globally. We will also share our own internal BSM surveys. Together, these feedback opportunities give us valuable insight into what we are doing well and where we can continue to strengthen the experience of our students and families. Please take time to participate. Your feedback matters. It helps us identify patterns, celebrate strengths, respond to areas for development and ensure that our next steps are grounded in the lived experience of our community.

As we approach the end of the year, we should not flag in upholding our core values. Kindness reminds us to support and uplift one another when the pace of school life is at its busiest. Integrity asks us to remain true to our commitments and principles. Respect calls on us to recognise the efforts, contributions and perspectives of others, and to maintain the positive, collaborative environment that sits at the heart of our strong BSM community.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support, engagement and partnership.

Enjoy a family-filled weekend.
