Dear BSM Family,
More than ever before, education is an intricate space of learning and growth set within a complex social and emotional context. Our school journey is not solely defined by academic milestones, sports trophies, recitals, camps or service learning engagement but very much also by the nurturing of social and emotional growth. As you know, at BSM we embrace a holistic environment where we wish for each student to thrive not only academically but also emotionally and socially.
In our richly diverse community, we celebrate differences and recognise the value of empathy and understanding within our core values of respect, integrity and kindness. By embracing our diversity, we cultivate a rich tapestry of experiences that enrich the lives of our students and prepare them to be compassionate global citizens.
All of this you know, but we also know that life is filled with challenges and the process of equipping our children with the resilience and coping skills necessary to navigate these hurdles is a community effort.
What truly sets our BSM community apart is the depth and quality of the relationships that flourish within it. I am continually uplifted by the richness of the connections forged through positive and engaging conversations with students, parents, and staff alike. These interactions are not merely exchanges of information but meaningful exchanges of perspectives and heartfelt sentiments.
All of our decisions are student and community-centred and we cultivate an environment where honesty, empathy, and mutual respect are valued and encouraged. Whether in the classroom, during Parent-Teacher Conferences, or in casual conversations on campus, there is an unmistakable sense of warmth and camaraderie that permeates our interactions.
We held our first BSM Alumni Connect event this past week; thank you to parents, Ms Grace Vera Cruz and Ms Eleanor Coliangco for their fantastic support in organising the event! To hear alums speak so positively and fondly of their alma mater referred my thoughts back to the earlier point on our shared values of empathy and understanding within our core values of respect, integrity and kindness. I realised that the greatest outcome of their time at BSM was the wonderful young people they had become beyond the books, fields, courts, stage and Service Learning. I see this too in our Year 13s on the final formal day of school today and wish them the very best in their final IBDP examinations.
If our work today with our current students produces the calibre of Year 13s and alums that I have met then we can feel rightly proud.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the holistic development of our students.
