Dear BSM Family,
FOBISIA PE & Sports Conference
You may remember that last year BSM hosted the FOBISIA Drama Teachers Conference. As you read this, BSM is proudly hosting the FOBISIA Heads of PE & Sports AGM and Conference 2024. It is an honour for BSM to host such a dynamic group of educators and professionals who are committed to the development of our students - physically, mentally, and emotionally - through the power of sports and physical education. We are proud to be a founding member in 1988 and a key player in the modern FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) landscape. FOBISIA is a regional federation that brings together British international schools across Asia to collaborate and support each other in areas of education, professional development, sports, arts, safeguarding and extracurricular activities. FOBISIA organises conferences, sports competitions, and other events to promote collaboration and best practices among member schools. BSM staff sit on or chair 4 of 6 working committees of FOBISIA, PE, Drama, Music and Safeguarding.
As I welcomed over 150 attendees to our Bayanihan Hall for the Conference yesterday, I shared a common theme we embrace here at BSM, community and purpose. While we are a diverse community, it is in our community that we find shared purpose, strength, support during challenges and celebration in triumphs. The FOBISIA PE & Sports Conference is very much a celebration of those community ideals and people who come together not only to share best practices and insights but also to inspire and be inspired by one another with our students firmly at the heart of that.
Congratulations and thank you to our PE and Sports Department, with fabulous support from Events, CAC and other teams for organising and running a professional and compelling FOBISIA PE/sports community coming together.

Communication
As mentioned in Lion’s Roar on 30 August, we will be working with Parent Representatives to gather feedback on our communications and explore the most effective ways to evaluate our practices. Your input is very welcome to this process. Please share your thoughts with your Parent Rep who will bring them to our working party later this month.
In the meantime, in order to pilot ways to streamline our communications, we will aim to focus Whole School communications, such as the announcement of the Fun Run, in our Lion’s Roar. Please encourage fellow parents to check Lion's Roar weekly for key notices, dates and updates. The Lion’s Roar is also available on our website, should you wish to re-read any older issues.
Wishing you a safe and family-filled weekend.
