International Evening was a fantastic celebration of culture and community at BSM

Dear BSM Family,

Last Friday’s International Evening was another fantastic event, a memorable celebration of culture, diversity, and the strength of our BSM community. As I mentioned in opening the event, at BSM, we set a formidable example of a positive and invigorating diverse community embracing shared values.

On behalf of everyone who enjoyed a fabulous evening, I extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated Events Team, who outdid themselves with this year’s event, as well as to our parents, support staff, teachers, students, volunteers, and our BSM PTA for their outstanding contributions. Whether preparing food, decorating booths, performing on stage, or assisting behind the scenes, everyone involved had a positive impact in making the evening such a remarkable success.

Have a wonderful, family-filled weekend.

Swimming Reminders

Swimming is a curriculum entitlement at BSM. We are proud to offer a weekly swim session from Nursery up to Year 9, which sets us apart from many other international schools.

We understand that there may be times when a child forgets their swim kit or is unwell. There is a message in the Google Communication Hubs this week about how this is recorded and dealt with.

It is important to note that, unless the medical reason for not swimming is a skin condition or limb functionality-related, a child who is well enough to be in school and is participating in other physical activity (e.g. play times and ASA provision) is well enough to swim.

Bandana Day

Bandana Day is an annual event that honours a promise to a former BSM student—to continue promoting cancer awareness and raising funds to support children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

You can show your support by purchasing a bandana inspired by the artwork made by our recent Big Draw Artist in Residence, Lil Manahan, featuring local flora and fauna for each house, designed by the Visual Art department. Each bandana costs Php 250.00, and all proceeds will be donated to the amazing charity, Cancer Warrior Foundation, to help fund programs and support for young cancer patients.

Parent Workshops

‘Celebrating Our Diverse Brains: Learning and Communicating for Success’, Wednesday, 18 Mar 2026, 08.00-09.00am, LRC Level 2, Screen Space

Our latest parent workshop is relevant for families across the whole school. Every child has their own way of thinking, learning and communicating, and understanding these differences can make a powerful difference to relationships at home and at school.

We will share our strengths-based understanding of differences that support all learners to thrive, introduce a tool to improve communication, and bust some common myths about learning and development.

Please register here on or before Tuesday, 17 March if you would like to attend this Parent Workshop.
