Service and Sustainability learning to empower our students as global citizens

Dear BSM Family,

As this school year gains momentum, one area I am so proud of is how we continue to strengthen our Service and Sustainability work. Through threads and strands across so many elements of our school and community, Service and Sustainability is not a project, rather a commitment that offers students and our broader community opportunities for learning, growth, and contribution.

Through our Eco Schools programme, for example, a student-led initiative, we are working towards recognised international eco-certification this school year. The certification requires sustainability to be integrated across a breadth of areas in school life. A Sustainability Scorecard and regular data updates help us track our progress, while a dedicated budget supports key operational initiatives that make our campus and practices more environmentally responsible.

Commitment to supporting broader initiatives and communities through Service Learning thrives through collaboration. We continue to deepen relationships with our valued community partners and strengthen institutional links with DepEd for education outreach and with the Department of Energy to support sustainability and energy education. These partnerships help our students learn, lead, and make a real impact.

We continue to stand alongside our local community schools through the BSM Taguig Scholars Programme, giving promising young people greater access to education.

As you are aware, our standing Disaster Relief Fund is always ready to respond when communities face natural disasters, and we will provide emergency support whenever needed to our partner organisations in times of need. Thank you for the incredible support from each of you who has contributed to recent appeals.

As you know, our students sit at the heart of all of our endeavours, and from the Early Years to IB, CAS, Service and Sustainability learning is embedded in the curriculum, and our students are encouraged to think and act as global citizens, aware of how local action contributes to worldwide change.

Looking ahead, we are also strengthening our communications and storytelling, so we can share the evidence of impact from these initiatives and inspire even broader participation. Data collection and regular updates will show the difference our community is making together.

Thank you for supporting these endeavours. By weaving Service and Sustainability into everything we do, BSM continues to nurture responsible, compassionate leaders who care for the world they inherit.

Enjoy a family-filled weekend.
