Representing BSM at COBIS in London, roaringly proud to connect with BSM alumni and global schools

Dear BSM Family,

I am currently in London representing BSM at the COBIS (Council of British International Schools) Annual Conference. As a COBIS member school, we are part of a global network spanning over 330 member schools and 193 supporting associates. Events such as this are invaluable in strengthening our connections with other schools and institutions, and in reinforcing our commitment not only to staying informed about developments in international education, but also to contributing to sharing best practices and innovations with peer schools.

I also had the pleasure of hosting our fourth annual BSM Alumni Connect event for alumni based in the UK. We welcomed over 30 attendees last night, and it was truly uplifting to hear them speak so passionately about their time at BSM and their aspirations for the future. It is moments like these that reinforce how proud I am to be part of the BSM community.

These connections—with like-minded schools through COBIS, with universities, and with our alumni—play an important role in building and sustaining our strong extended community.

Finally, a reminder not to forget your tickets for our Term 3 community event, the Great British Splash, led by the PTA on Friday, 15 May 2026 at 04.30pm. It promises to be a fantastic community celebration and one not to miss, so please get your tickets.

Enjoy a family-filled weekend!

Cafeteria Balances and Lunch Passes

As our current cafeteria provider, Sodexo, prepares to conclude its services on Saturday, 20 June 2026, we would like to share a few important reminders:

  • FoodiE Wallet / ID Card Balances: We encourage all students and parents to consume any remaining balances in their ID cards or FoodiE wallets. Please note that top-ups will no longer be accepted starting Monday, 01 June.
  • Arrangement for Lunch Passes: Beginning Monday,18 May, any child who needs a lunch pass will be provided with cash to purchase a meal through the Primary or Senior secretaries. An email will be sent to the parents informing them of the amount to be paid directly to the secretaries.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this transition.

Parent Workshops

‘Raising Thinkers: AI Basics for Parents in an Evolving World’, Wednesday, 13 May 2026, 08.00-09.00am, Senior FoodiE Bistro

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into education, workplaces, and daily life, many parents have expressed curiosity—along with uncertainty—about what AI is, how it works, and how it affects their children’s learning.

Join us for a supportive and practical workshop designed to help you navigate the rapidly changing digital landscape alongside your child. In this session, we will demystify AI, moving past the jargon to focus on what matters most: your child’s ability to think, create, and make decisions.

Please register here on or before Tuesday, 12 May, if you would like to attend this Parent Workshop.

Fuel for Learning: A Parent Conversation on Food at School, Wednesday, 20 May 2026, 08.00am-09.00am, Senior FoodiE Bistro

Over the course of this year, BSM has hosted five nutrition workshops for parents or family helpers, reaching over 200 members of our community. These sessions have reinforced what research and experience both tell us: there is a strong link between diet and learning.

We are now inviting parents to join a collaborative workshop to help shape our next steps. This session is designed to hear your perspectives and explore an important question: what guidance should BSM provide on snacks, food, and nutrition in school?

Together, we will discuss the balance between clear school guidelines and parent autonomy, and what level of support would be most helpful for families. Through guided questions and open discussion, we aim to gather insights that reflect the needs and values of our community.

Your voice is an important part of this process, and we hope you will join us in shaping a thoughtful, balanced approach to supporting our children’s well-being and learning.

Please register here on or before Tuesday, 19 May, if you would like to attend this Parent Workshop.
