Strengthening relationships at Flourish Festival and congratulations to the newly appointed Head of Senior School
Dear BSM Family,
Flourish Festival at BSM this past week has been a vibrant celebration of well-being, connection, and personal growth. Rooted in our Well-Being Framework and informed by the Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum (PEEC) modules, the festival provided students and staff with opportunities to explore what it truly means to flourish as individuals and as a community. The rationale behind this initiative is the recognition that personal and collective well-being is fundamental to academic and personal success. By fostering positive relationships, resilience, and a sense of purpose, students are better equipped to navigate challenges and thrive in all aspects of their lives.
At the heart of the festival was a commitment to strengthening relationships. Collaborative activities encouraged students to build trust, empathy, and teamwork. Whether through group challenges, creative workshops, or shared storytelling sessions, students and teachers alike found new ways to connect, reinforcing the value of friendship and belonging, and reminding everyone that well-being is a shared journey.
Laughter and joy echoed across campus, proving that positive energy can be contagious. Students discovered new passions, strengthened existing interests, and found a deeper sense of purpose in their activities, linking back to PEEC’s core themes of gratitude, kindness, and optimism.
Flourish Festival also provided moments for reflection on resilience and personal growth. Challenges and problem-solving activities encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, embrace setbacks as learning opportunities, and develop an understanding that perseverance leads to accomplishment, an essential lesson within the PEEC framework.
There were numerous highlights for me this week but two stand out. Meeting the remarkable Filipino athlete, Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo, the silver and gold olympian who won the first Olympic Gold for the Philippines was truly inspiring and also enjoying the spirit afternoon with students was great fun, especially the slippery slide.
The energy and enthusiasm sparked during Flourish Festival Week will continue to inspire students and staff as we navigate educational and personal journeys, ensuring that well-being remains at the heart of life at BSM.
Also at the core of commitment to students is ensuring strong continuity in leadership. With that in mind, you would have seen earlier our announcement of Mr Mark Attwood’s appointment as Head of Senior School from August 2025. Congratulations to Mr Attwood, his commitment to our BSM students is already palpable and we look forward to his stewardship of Senior School in the years to come.
Wishing you a happy and family-filled weekend.
