Congratulations to Four Squared for winning the FOBISIA Battle of the Bands 2026, Flourish Festival at BSM, and an update on the Metro Manila Subway Project

Dear BSM Family,

We are used to exceptional performances at a wide range of FOBISIA competitions, and last weekend was not different, except for the nature of the competition. Our very own Four Squared walked away as Champions at the Annual FOBISIA Battle of the Bands held in Bangkok. PLEASE take a look at the video of the performance. It is phenomenal. Bravo!

This past week, we celebrated our annual Flourish Festival, centred on this year’s theme: “The Ripple Effect: Flourish in Every Connection.”

Throughout the week, students across the school took part in activities designed to strengthen positive relationships, deepen a sense of belonging, and celebrate the small moments that help us feel connected to one another. From the youngest learners in Primary School to our Senior School students, Flourish Festival created time and space to focus on well-being in a way that was joyful, meaningful, and shared.

I remember a few years ago, a former parent referring to our well-being initiatives in a rather disparaging way. Harking back to previous times and more traditional education. Well, we’re in a very different space now and must learn from the past if we are to look after them today and prepare them to navigate their futures.

Key to this is looking after themselves and others, and our Well-Being Framework provides a structured way to develop the necessary skills in our students.

Flourish Festival 2026 reminded us that well-being is not something we build alone. It grows through friendships, shared experiences, kindness, and the simple act of noticing one another. And across the week, those moments created exactly what the theme promised: a ripple effect felt across the whole BSM community.

As you may be aware, the Metro Manila Subway Project, already underway, will commence the main construction work in BGC as early as July 2026.

This week, we met with key leaders from Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation (BESC), who kindly shared early plans and updates for this significant and exciting development for the city.

While the long-term benefits of the project will be considerable, there will likely be some impact on BSM during the construction phase, particularly due to work on two nearby stations: the Kalayaan Avenue Station (along 11th Avenue) and the Bonifacio Global City Station (outside Market! Market!).

The most immediate and noticeable impact is expected to be disruption to traffic flow, including road closures near BSM. We are currently reviewing the information shared, assessing the likely level of impact, and exploring practical mitigations we can request and implement to minimise disruption for our community during the construction period.

We look forward to sharing further information with you in this regard after the half-term break.

Enjoy a family-filled weekend.

Parent Workshops

'Communicating with Your Teenager', Wednesday, 11 February 2026, 08.00am-09.00am, LRC Level 2, Screen Space

Adolescent communication can often feel challenging, as teens naturally seek independence or retreat into their own worlds. To support parents through this transitional phase, Ms Monika, our School Counsellor, warmly invites parents to a workshop to help navigate your teen’s rapid neurological and emotional changes.

The workshop provides practical techniques to move from nagging or lecturing to positive communication that fosters mutual respect. Parents will gain tools to create a safe space for your child to share their thoughts and feelings, including ways to share your own life experiences to foster empathy and understanding.

'Year 11 Parent Coffee Morning with College Counsellors', Wednesday, 25 February 2026, 08.00am-09.00am, LRC Level 2, Screen Space

This Year 11 Parent Coffee Morning is an informal opportunity for families to sit down together with the College Counselling Team, ask questions, and begin conversations as we move into a more focused phase of guidance and planning. We’ll talk through common questions around subject selection, outline what to expect from the upcoming Higher Education (HE) meetings in March, and clarify the purpose and goals of those meetings with Year 11 families. Most importantly, this session is designed to create space for connection — a chance to meet one another, raise any early doubts or curiosities, and start building the collaborative relationships that will support students as we begin working more closely together over the coming months.
