2023-2024 Annual Report, Inspirational Presentation from Hidilyn Diaz, & Looking Ahead
Dear BSM Family,
It is hard to believe that we are only a week away from half-term.
As you may remember, it is usually this time of the year when we publish our Annual Report. The SY 2023-2024 Annual Report is the fourth version and you are invited to view the report digitally at ISSUU.
Our 2023-2024 Annual Report is a wonderful showcase of last year’s achievements and covers valuable data and interesting information on our endeavours. The report has evolved over 4 short years and we are immensely proud of the professional presentation of our great BSM! Thanks to all content contributors and especially our marketing team for collating the information so professionally.
By the way, on page 19 of the report is feedback on WISE (Women in International Schools Empowerment). WISE continues to foster leadership and professional growth among its members and they will host another Round-table tomorrow, 05 October at 09.30am in our Bayanihan Hall, Creative Arts Centre. Please pop along to what promises to be a wonderful event.
We were privileged to host Online Safety workshops over three days led by Jonathan Taylor. Mr Taylor has impressive credentials in the field of online safety and his deeply thought-provoking and informative sessions focussed on navigating the digital landscape safely and provided practical tips for students, staff, and parents. Thank you to the over 80 parents who came along to the workshop on Wednesday. Parents can access a recording of Jonathan's session here (please ensure you're logged in using your FAM e-mail when accessing the link). Jonathan will offer a follow-up session later this term, remotely. Further details to follow.
Inspirational Presentation from Hidilyn Diaz
This week, we had the privilege of hosting Hidilyn Diaz, the first Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal, who delivered an inspiring presentation to our Year 5 students. Her journey of overcoming challenges resonated deeply with the students, who have been exploring the theme of role models in their recent readings.
Miss Natalie from the PE department also shared her personal story of resilience, detailing how she utilised her character strengths to recover from a knee injury. Hidilyn emphasised the importance of support from family and friends, along with strong values, in helping her persevere through difficult times.
To everyone's amazement, she demonstrated her strength by lifting some students above her head, creating a memorable moment that perfectly encapsulated her message of determination and empowerment.
