The British School Manila is seeking an experienced and proactive Learning Support Specialist starting in August 2026.
Senior School Learning Support Specialist(Business Studies and Economics)
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and experienced multi-disciplinary student support services team to provide learning support to young people with a focus on Business Studies (experience teaching additional humanities subjects would be an advantage).
Preferred candidates will have experience supporting young people in an inclusive senior school setting. Candidates should have experience teaching and supporting the teaching of Business Studies and/or Economics in senior school, as well as holistically supporting young people’s social and emotional development.
BSM takes its role in safeguarding and protecting children seriously and expects candidates to be familiar with safeguarding in an educational context and have an understanding of the importance of wellbeing in education. The ideal candidate will:
- Contribute to the Learning Plan cycle by assisting in setting, implementing, monitoring and reviewing individual learning goals.
- Use data to inform decision-making.
- Research, source and share evidence-based resources to support individual learning differences.
- Engage in collaborative approaches with colleagues to assess, plan for, monitor and review learning needs.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of intervention lessons, lead on modifying plans and resources for small groups and individual students for iGCSE Business Studies and Economics and IB Business Management.
- Provide regular and meaningful feedback to the student support services team and subject teachers to continually develop effective provision for students.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about the students’ progress and share strategies to support the student at home and in other settings.
- Demonstrate excellent English communication and IT skills.
- Be organised, systematic, efficient and diligent in their approach to work.
- Excel with a student-centred approach and possess excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship skills.
- Be familiar with safeguarding in an educational context and have an understanding of the responsibilities to protect children and young people in our care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A relevant teaching degree (Secondary School Business Studies Teacher preferred) and/or Special Educational Needs, preferably with an above-average academic record from a reputable school.
- Preferably at least 2 years of work experience, including working with students with a Range of learning needs.
- Experience in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanour.
- Relevant work experience in a multicultural academic environment is an advantage.
Remuneration:
The pay and benefits package in Philippine peso will be tailored based on the candidate’s qualifications.
