CAS Week 2013
The whole of year 12 descended on Tagaytay last week for a residential trip that focussed on the CAS (creativity, action, service) components of the IB course. For the second year, we worked at Tagaytay Central Elementary School, where last year the CAS group laid a basketball court, and at the Pag-Asa social centre. This year, following some competitive sport on Sunday afternoon, the next four days saw students working very hard and getting dirty concreting, creatively designing and building a wonderful wooden adventure playground, painting a mural on one of the school walls, visiting an organic farm, organising a dance and drama workshop and teaching local primary school students. The last day saw teams racing up a very dusty and hot Taal volcano. It was a fantastic week with all of the students impressively representing BSM with their maturity and commitment. Many thanks too to the Empowering Brilliant minds Foundation and AGAPP, a local foundation in Tagaytay, for making the week such a success.
