Sports Clubs as Part of the ASA Programme

The activities provided by the PE department are primarily ‘Stage 1 - Sports Clubs’ although several do require payment and as such are categorized as ‘Stage 2 – Externally Paid ASA’s’. For more information on the three stages of ASA’s please visit our ASA page.

Athletics

Participation: Athletics ASA programme are open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: Athletics ASA may sometimes be split into participation and development groups as fixtures and competitions approach.

Excellence: Those students selected to represent the school at Athletics in competitions such as FOBISIA will have extra training session as these competitions approach.

Badminton

Participation: Badminton ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: Badminton ASA may sometimes be split into participation and development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities we hope to offer in badminton during 2013/14 include, but are not limited to; friendly fixtures and tournaments with local clubs.

Basketball

Participation: Basketball ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: Basketball ASA may sometimes be split into participation and development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities in Basketball include, but are not limited to; friendly fixtures with local clubs.

Excellence: Those students selected to represent the school at Basketball in competitions such as FOBISIA and ISAC may have extra training session as these competitions approach.

Cricket

Participation: Cricket ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria. These will run in the new calendar year.

Development: Development opportunities we hope to offer in Cricket in the new year include, but are not limited to; friendly fixtures and tournaments with local clubs.

Football

Participation: BSM Lions is available to all students regardless of ability. Football ASA is also open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: ASA Football may sometimes be split into Participation and Development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities in football include but are not limited to; RIFA fixtures and tournaments along with the Weekend Football League (WFL) for the older senior school students.

Excellence:  Those selected to represent the school in some RIFA tournaments. Those students selected to represent the school at football in competitions such as FOBISIA and ISAC.

Rugby

Participation: ASA Rugby is  open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: ASA Rugby may sometimes be split into participation and development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities in Rugby include but are not limited to;  local competitions (MANSAC).

Swimming

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for this programme. For further information please visit our Swimming page.

Participation: All students from Nursery – Year 13 have the opportunity to swim at BSM.  Swimming squads are for children from Year 1-13. There is a separate Learn to Swim Programme that runs each term for Nursery, Reception and Year 1 students. Students that are not quite ready to be in a swimming squad have the opportunity to improve their swimming technique within the curriculum swimming lessons and in the Learn to Swim Programme.

Development: Swim squad training may sometimes be split into Participation and Development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities in swimming include, but are not liomited to; swim meets through out the year with local schools, internal swim meets at BSM. With the exception of The Bonifacio Cup and FOBISIA all swim meets are open invitational to all swimmers within the swimming programme.

Excellence: The schools best swimmers will be selected to train in the Elite Squad. Those students selected to represent the school in swimming at competitions such as FOBISIA and The Bonifacio Cup will train within the swimming programme as these competitions approach.

T-ball/Softball

Participation: Tee-Ball/ Softball ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria. These will run in the calendar new year.

Excellence: Those students selected to represent the school at T-Ball in primary FOBISIA will have extra training session as these competitions approach.

Table Tennis

Participation: Table Tennis ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: Development opportunities we hope to offer in table Tennis in the new year include, but are not limited to; friendly fixtures and tournaments with local clubs

Tennis

Development: We have a tennis team that is student led and currently enters local school tournaments.

Volleyball

Participation: Volleyball ASA is open to all students as long as they meet the age criteria.

Development: Volleyball ASA may sometimes be split into Participation and Development groups as fixtures and competitions approach. Development opportunities in Volleyball include, but are not limited to; friendly fixtures with local clubs.

Excellence: Those students selected to represent the school at Volleyball in competitions such as ISAC will have extra training session as these competitions approach. They may also be coached separately within the normal ASA session
