Welcome to The British School Manila

When I first visited the School in November 2003, I was tremendously impressed by the friendly environment. The School had ‘warmth’ which prevailed across all age groups and all sectors of the community, and since I took up the position of Head of School in September 2004, we have worked hard to maintain that ethos. However, we recognise that friendliness alone does not make a successful school. We know that once our students have left BSM, they will enter a very competitive environment and they will need academic ability, personal skills and a positive character in order to be successful and happy.
We strive to prepare them. We recognise that all students have very different needs, and at BSM we pride ourselves on providing a service to our students that is designed to meet each individual’s specific requirements. The curriculum is flexible but rigorous enough for us to challenge all abilities at every level of the school. Up to Year 11 we structure our teaching and learning around the requirements outlined by the National Curriculum of England, adapting and amending our curriculum offer to suit our students’ needs. This provides a broad and rigorous curriculum for all students and offers a balanced coverage of the arts, humanities and sciences, expressive arts and physical education, whilst ensuring that students develop a wide range of skills and techniques together with creativity and physical well-being.
In Years 12 and 13, we offer the International Baccalaureate diploma course which continues the breadth of education so essential in the modern world. Of course, the extra-curricular activities are also extremely important, and over 70 activities are offered, catering for a very wide range of sporting, creative and artistic talents. Indeed the School is a busy place, and all of us are proud of our commitment to the School where every child matters and every family is important.
