Staffing All the teaching staff of The British School have either U.K. or U.K. recognized qualifications. All also have at least two years experience of the British curriculum prior to joining the school, although most have been involved in British curriculum schools for much longer. The senior management team
The day to day management of the school is by the senior management team. This is made up of the head of school, and the heads of the primary and secondary sections. They take a school wide perspective in decision making, and contribute to the overall leadership and tactical management of the school. The smt is responsible for the curriculum, staffing, budgets, and facilities and makes recommendations to the board when changes are appropriate. The middle management team
These are also heads of each key stage who deal with pastoral issues and monitor student progress. The heads of key stage deal with pupil welfare, and occasionally become involved in disciplinary issues. They are available to meet with parents should the initial contact with the class teacher or form tutor not resolve the matter. Year leaders and heads of faculty
In the primary school each year group has a year leader who is responsible for ensuring that the curriculum is delivered. Year leaders are available to parents when discussing issues related to the curriculum. They meet together regularly and ensure continuity and development of the curriculum. In the senior school, heads of faculty are responsible for the curriculum. At present there are heads of faculties in maths, Englishs, creative arts, science and technology, humanities and sports. They too, ensure that syllabuses are taught, resources are available, and the curriculum meets the needs of all pupils.
Class teachers and form tutors
The class teacher in the primary schools, and form tutor in the senior school are responsible for the day to day welfare of the pupils and are usually the first point of contact for a parent with a concern. They will know the children very well, and they monitor all aspects of a child's development at the school. In the primary school, the class teacher teaches most of the subjects, but in the senior school, after a ten minute registration period first thing in the morning, pupils move through a timetable of specialist teaching. However, the form tutor does have contact with his or her form through the p.s.h.e. programme and citizenship programmes.
