The British School Manila Parents and Teachers Association (PTA)

The Parent and Teacher Association sees its main role as building and maintaining the family friendly atmosphere mandated in the school mission statement.  To this end, our activities include:

Organising social functions Full school functions (with both a social and fund raising objective)
  • Bonfire Night
  • The Annual Fete

Targeted functions

  • New parents party
Supporting school life
  • Organising the Christmas Shop (for primary children)
  • Running the costume hire shop
  • Funding external speakers
  • Providing refreshments at school plays, concerts, coffee mornings, etc
  • Supporting the Christmas party for the support staff
Using funds raised to contribute to school facilities
  • Two minibuses
  • Furniture for the Learning Resource Centre
  • Refurbishment of grand piano
Overseeing class representatives

The parent body includes many talented and dedicated individuals, some of whom have time to contribute their energies to school life.  This involvement can range from the simple (e.g. talking at careers day, helping out at the Christmas Shop) to the extensive (e.g. training a flamenco dance troupe to performance standard).  If you have time to contribute, we are keen to hear from you, and will endeavour to direct you to wherever your talents can best be used.

New parents

Since BSM is an international school, a number of new parents arrive each term, and the PTA is keen to integrate them into school life quickly.  For logistics questions (e.g. where to buy children’s football boots, where to find a children’s dentist) we suggest you contact your class representative in the first instance.  In addition, many BSM parents are representatives or members of non-school organisations which also offer newcomers support in settling into life in Manila. A list of some of those organisations is available from the admissions office.
